In 2019, the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory team hosted two PSO / BSO networking days, providing an exciting opportunity for our safeguarding officers and other church officers within the diocese to network with each other and ask questions of the DSA team and outside speakers.
Due to the success of these two days, and the feedback provided, we have arranged two more networking days for 2020. The details are as follows:
- Saturday 21st March: 10am–2.30pm (9.30am for 10am start) at St Giles Church, Northampton (NN1 2BN)
- Saturday 11th July: 10am–2.30pm (9.30am for 10am start) at Christ the King, Kettering (NN15 7AA)
The outside speakers will be:
- Peter Spindler, a retired Metropolitan Police Commander and Senior Investigating Officer for Operation Yewtree (Savile and others). His talk will be An examination of how organisations can learn about responding to safeguarding critical incidents, and what more can be done to make institutions safer places for the vulnerable. A short biography of Peter can be found here.
- Patricia Kirk, a retired Detective Chief Inspector for Northamptonshire Police who leads on Adult and Children Serious Case Reviews. She is also a Parish Safeguarding Officer in our diocese. Her talk is The application of Serious Case Reviews (SCRs) to cases involving death or serious harm to a child, and where a vulnerable adult has died involving partner agencies.
