The Red Cross in Northamptonshire has devised a special photo competition for charity, asking people to take snaps of their vegetable patches!
‘In the Spirit of the Thyme’ will raise money for the Northamptonshire Lord Lieutenancy Emergency Fund. The monies raised will go directly to the essential NHS services helping hospitals and patients, and local Food Banks which are so heavily in demand.
The first prize is a Magnum of Champagne, with prizes being given all the way to 10th place.
So, this is what you need to do:
- Send a donation to justgiving.com/campaign/ltemergencyfund. Please note that any donation for the cause will be gratefully received, even if you cannot take part in the competition.
- Between 6th and 10th May, upload one photo of your vegetable patch (or window box or pots of herbs) labelled with your phone number to this link. Your phone number is essential so the winners can be notified…
- Please forward this email to your gardening friends locally, garden societies and any allotment holders you know and ask them to join in. The more funds received, the more monies can be given out. So far over £3,000 has been raised.
- The Judges are Ursula Buchan, garden specialist and author, and Caroline Legard, creator of the Scampston walled garden in Yorkshire. Ursula and Caroline realise it is early days for any veg to be sprouting, so the smallest pot will be as seriously considered as well as the largest patch!
Winners will be announced in mid-May.
