News about the Lay Ministry Course from the Diocesan Director of Ordinands

Applications for the Lay Ministry Course are now closed for this autumn. We are delighted to see so many people keen to train for ministries in the Church, and the course is at capacity for the coming year.

The Lay Ministry Course is always evolving and developing to keep up with the needs of our churches. One new development this year has been in the ‘Practical Modules’ which run in January and February. This year, we had a module on chaplaincy skills, as well as the usual ones on preaching, pastoral skills and evangelism and students were given a free choice of what they did, regardless of what ministry pathway they were on. Therefore, trainee Readers could try evangelism, while evangelists could hone up their preaching skills.

The Vocation and Formation Team are pleased to meet people who would like to explore how God may be calling them. Keep in mind the annual Vocations Day ‘Explore’ at All Saints School, Kingsthorpe on Saturday 28th November. This always proves to be an important day for people, whether it is a first ‘toe in the water’ of exploring a calling in ministry, or for others clarifying direction. We continue to plan for this day to take place.

Please keep putting people in touch with us who you think may be interested in ministry:
